Art for Children

Program Location: La Catalina Foundation

Program Description: LCF offers after-school art classes twice a week to children in the community. As the public schools of La Manzanilla do not currently have funding for regular art classes, LCF has launched this program to increase the opportunities available to the children of the village. The aim of the art classes is to develop the children's creativity, imagination, cognitive skills, problem solving abilities, and fine motor skills. Studies show that children who regularly participate in art programs are more likely to excel in math, science and writing. Art can also help to build self-esteem because children take pride in the works of art they create.

Teachers: Lorena

Program Schedule: For class times please refer to our Program Schedule

Program Budget: The art program currently costs LCF $1800.00 pesos a month in materials and teaching costs to operate. We are looking for sponsors, supplies and donations to keep this program running. To donate to this program please click the "make a donation" button above.

School Fundraising and Supply Donation

Program Description: LCF places high importance on relationships with the public schools of the Costa Alegre region. We continuously work to make funds available to the schools for special education projects. When funds are unavailable we assist them in finding other funding sources for out-of-budget expenses. LCF also publishes a wish list for each school, so people who wish to donate supplies can see what their current needs are. Donors may drop off supplies at La Catalina Foundation or we can arrange to take the donors to the schools to make their donations in person.
